Our Story
The Double A “Assist” Foundation began after our family lost a legendary teammate, father, and friend: Andy "Double A" Allamian. One of his greatest joys was sharing his lifelong love of hockey with his family on the ice.
To honor his legacy, we launched the foundation with the Inaugural 3/2 Power Play fundraiser. In hockey, a Power Play gives your team the advantage; our mission is to give that same advantage to boys and girls in Wisconsin who are sidelined by the high costs of gear and registration fees.
Andy’s Legacy
The Double A “Assist” Foundation is named in honor of Andy “Double A” Allamian, whose life was deeply connected to the game of hockey.
Andy grew up in Illinois, where he spent countless winter days playing outdoor hockey in Elmwood Park. He loved every form of the game, whether it was pickup hockey, pond hockey, or recreational league play. Hockey became a lifelong passion that introduced him to some of his closest friends and eventually became something he shared with his own children.
Andy attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he studied disability law, and built a career as a Social Security attorney. Through his work, he dedicated himself to helping people navigate difficult circumstances and obtain the support they needed.
Andy met his wife, Cyndi, and together they started a family that soon grew to include four children. All of them share his love of hockey. Every winter, Andy would build a backyard ice rink for his family to enjoy, creating memories that will last a lifetime. He also continued playing the game he loved, skating alongside his sons in the Janesville Adult Recreational League.
Andy tragically passed away on March 2, 2025. His sudden loss was devastating to his family and friends. As we approached the first anniversary of his passing, we wanted to do more than simply mourn. We knew Andy would not have wanted us to spend too long dwelling on sadness. Instead, we chose to honor his memory by turning our grief into something positive and giving back through the game that meant so much to him.
The mission of the Double A “Assist” Foundation is to make hockey more accessible to children and families who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate. Through financial assistance, community support, and a commitment to growing the game, we hope to remove barriers and create opportunities for young players to experience the friendships, confidence, and lifelong memories that hockey can provide. By helping others discover the sport Andy loved, we carry forward his spirit of generosity, community, and service.
